'Sloppy' Saints blasted by Curly as poor run continues
Curly O'Callaghan and co-manager Paul Brassington read the riot act to underperforming Southam United in a 30 minute dressing room lock-in on Monday.

Players were issued with a stark shape up or ship out warning after a bank holiday blank left Saints trailing at the foot of the Midland Combination Premier table.

The ambitious Banbury Road side has taken just one point from the opening three fixtures of a campaign which began with high expectations and investment in new talent - and O'Callaghan admits the pressure is now on from chairman Charles Hill.

The side was told things must improve after 2-1 defeat to Coventry Copsewood on Monday compounded Saturday's 84th-minute 1-0 reversal at the hands of Shifnal, despite dominating for long spells.

Ross Holtam got on the scoresheet with a strike from a fine five-man move in the latest loss - but goals through lapses of concentration claimed the points.

The manager said: "Against Shifnal we put in a solid performance before gifting them a goal with a silly mistake right at the end.

"On Monday game we were just too sloppy. We've got one or two missing but there are no excuses.

"I told the players that in no uncertain terms after the Copsewood game and we stayed in the dressing room and myself and Paul Brassington shared some home truths.

"Playing for 75 minutes is not good enough and after the season we had last year I'm beginning to come under pressure from the chairman.

"We're all in this together and we'll be looking for a vast improvement when we go to Continental Star on Saturday.

"Three games is not a season, I believe in the squad here and there are always one or two funny results early on - but we need to bounce back and bounce back quickly."

"One or two" changes are likely for tomorrow's (Saturday's) away game.
